Etna-TEC

Etna-Tec Products

Founded in 2001 Etna-TEC, Ltd. was originally a joint venture company formed by two partner companies: Etna Products, Inc. (Etna) and The Edgington Company, Inc. (TEC). TEC was established in 1996 when it entered the NASA LIFT incubator in Cleveland, Ohio. In March 2001 TEC graduated from the NASA LIFT incubator and formed the joint venture with Etna. In 2006 Etna purchased the interests of TEC and Etna-TEC, Ltd. became a wholly owned member of the Etna Companies Group.

Etna-TEC has specialized in the development of specialty polymers used by the paint and coatings industry. One of the primary polymer systems offered is based on the use of multifunctional acrylates in conjunction with a proprietary cross linker. This polymer system sold under the Etna-TEC brand allows the coating formulator to make a solvent free coating with zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in the finished coating. The Etna-TEC polymer system (E-TEC System) is patented and coatings made with the system can be thermally cured in the presence of oxygen. The E-TEC system works equally well in clear or pigmented coatings and it can be used to formulate coatings that replace solvent based coatings, powder coatings and water based coatings.

Other features of the E-TEC System include:

Formulation flexibility in that the E-TEC System can be blended with traditional coatings technologies such as Polyurethanes, Melamine cross linked polyester based formulations, Alkyds, Epoxies or two component urethane cross linked systems.
